Q: When are showers allowed to be taken at camp?
Showers are allowed all at camp during the following times:
-
In the morning between 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
-
During mealtimes
-
During "Rec Time" (approximately 4:30 to 6 p.m.)
-
After "Peace Prayer" BEFORE "Lights Out"
It should also be kept in mind that due to the large number of people
needing to use the showers available in the morning that showers are
limited to 5 minutes maximum. If a teen elects to shower during
mealtimes they must let their advisor know before leaving the group
since advisors routinely are requested to do a head count prior to
meals. A question is frequently asked about
showers during "Quiet Time" which is not allowed. Advisors are
also allowed to shower within 30 minutes after "Lights Out".
Q: What time is "Lights-Out" and who is allowed to say up after this
time?
"Lights-Out" is the time that all teens under 18 y.o. are to be in their
bunks and the lights in the cabins are turned out. Green Dots (18
y.o. teens) and advisors are allowed to stay up for one hour after lights
out. If the advisor chooses to stay up and does not want to stay
in the cabin they must make sure that another advisor is present in the
cabin while they are gone. If a Green Dot chooses to stay up and
not stay in the cabin they must let their cabin advisor know.
Q: What time can teens and advisors start getting up in the morning?
Teens and advisors can start getting prepared for their day at 6:00
a.m. Any activity in the cabins prior to 7:00 a.m. must be done
quietly as to not disturb anyone still sleeping. The lights in the
cabins stay off until 7:00 a.m. and after that time all activity is
normally directed toward preparing for Sunrise Service at 7:30 a.m.
Q: Are cellular telephones or other types of electronic communication
devices allowed at camp?
Any telephone calls by teens are to be restricted to "Rec Time" unless
there is an emergency that requires otherwise. Calls to/from
individuals outside camp are found to frequently disturb the creative
loving energy that is created at seminar. An emergency call can
only be authorized by a member of the Youth Seminar Executive Committee.
Cellular telephones or other type of electronic communication devices
(e.g. pagers, internet capable devices) are no exception to this rule.
They can be used during "Rec Time" only. At ALL other times they
are to be turned off. If it is found that individuals in
possession of these devices at camp has difficulty in following these
guidelines the device will be placed in the keeping of their advisor at
camp until its completion when it will be returned. There are pay
telephones available for general use on the camp grounds.
Please Note:
The intent of any rules at seminar are to ensure the best possible
experience for all individuals attending camp. These rules apply
equally to teens and advisors unless specifically stated otherwise here
or in the advisor handbook. Please become familiar with these
frequently asked questions so that the seminar experience is enhanced
for all.
