From Ursula - Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta
We raised $500 in two Sunday's. Everyone had fun.
Gather stuffed animals: garage sales, kids rooms, create a school
fund raiser, Goodwill.
Most are machine washable. Don't use the ones with batteries. The hard
case in the middle could be used against a child, not machine washable
either.
Find a place where you can donate stuffed animals for kids in need:
shelter, orphanage, court house for children being taken away from their
parents, children's hospice, children's hospitals.
Teen Meeting: Do a visualization with the teens about what it would
be like to be one of these kids, get into details and emotions. What
message would you like to hear if that was you.
Pre-cut felt, with pinking shears, 2x3 inch. Have the teen write
affirmations for these children in need. Use permanent marker, write big.
Sunday Service or even at one of their schools: Set up a table with
the affirmations laid out and a big pile of the stuffed animals. Ask for
$5 donations for the opportunity to match up an animal with a saying, and
give it to the teens. We then fix the affirmation felt pieces onto the
animal with a tag gun. I found one at Michael's Craft store, they are like
clothing price tag strips but a lot shorter, you get a gun and buy extra
strips.
Stick them in big garbage bags and have someone deliver them.
Everyone wins. It was a lot of fun for the teens and the adults.
Good LUCK
